It started with a fox.

Our son Emeric was given a small fox plush by his aunt during a stretch when he wasn't feeling well. Somewhere between the fevers and the slow days of getting better, that fox became his. Foxy went everywhere: tucked under his arm every night, along for trips to museums and zoos, buried in beach towels, riding shotgun on every family holiday.

Then one day, on a trip to see a Shrek show, Foxy got left behind.

We have never seen a small heart break so completely. He cried like he'd lost his best friend — because, in every way that mattered to him, he had.

That's when it hit us: every kid needs a friend like that. Something soft and constant that's always there, holding on when they can't quite say what they're feeling.

And then we realised it doesn't stop at childhood. We all need someone in our corner — at every age. We all love people. We just don't always say it.
